Weekly Feature - Once Upon a Story...

'Once Upon a Story' is a weekly feature in which we go back in time and focus  on a specific novel that was released in the same month we're in right now (in this case May), but a few years back! It can be a women's fiction classic from the 1990's or perhaps a great chick lit read from 2011. I thought it would be nice to not just focus on recent releases, but also take the chance to jump back in time once a week and look back at wonderful reads that have been released over the years!

This week, we're travelling back to June 2005 to look back at...

Following the smash-hit 'Something Borrowed' comes story of betrayal, redemption, and forgiveness

Darcy Rhone has always been able to rely on a few things: Her beauty and charm.  Her fiance, Dex. Her lifelong best friend, Rachel.  She never needed anything else. Or so she thinks until Dex calls off their dream wedding and she uncovers the ultimate betrayal. Blaming everyone but herself, Darcy flees to London and attempts to re-create her glamorous life on a new continent. But to her dismay, she discovers that her tried-and-true tricks no longer apply--and that her luck has finally expired. It is only then that she can begin her journey toward redemption, forgiveness, and true love.

Emily Giffin's novel 'Something Borrowed' is a true chick lit classic. It was turned into a great film version with Kate Hudson and Ginnifer Goodwin several years ago, but there's also a sequel to the book named 'Something Blue.' This book focuses mainly on Darcy, who has lost both her fiance and her best friend, and wants to rebuild her life. She decides to travel far away to London, but then she discovers there might be different things in her future than she thought... A brilliant sequel, and one I definitely recommend to everyone who has read or seen 'Something Borrowed'!

Be sure to visit the blog next week for another blast from chick lit past with 'Once Upon a Story...'!
